WOLF... A truth stranger than fiction, is a cold case whodunnit based on true events. It plays out in three time zones - the years 1945, 1968 and 2000 respectively - and flips from Tyneside to Hamburg and Amsterdam against the backdrop of the post war European sex industry.
As a young lad in 1960's Tyneside, I was snooping at my spinster aunt's house when I found an old letter hidden in a dusty kit bag. Excited, I raced to tell the family about it, but it only caused massive upset. Later, my father told me that on the eve of his anticipated return home from Germany after the war, his little brother Geordie had been killed - by the werewolf! Okay I misunderstood. Actually, spelled Wehrwolf, they were a supposed crack troop of young partisans. Still, as I grew up, I never forgot the whole disturbing tale.
Then, at the turn of the millennium, my marriage in serious doubt, I promised my long-lived aunt that on a business trip to Germany I'd drive to my uncle's grave. It was on the same North Sea Ferry crossing to Amsterdam that I met Karin, a young Moluccan 'exotic dancer'. That coincidental meeting changed my whole life when she hitched a lift to Hamburg with me. Clearly the girl was spooked by the military cemetery there, so after I placed flowers and took a few photographs for my aunt, I rushed to drop Karin off in town. However, we became completely snowed in. So, instead of continuing to my planned destination in Cologne, she dragged me reluctantly into a murky Reeperbahn 'nightclub' - which eventually led me into a whole world of danger and corruption...
