The book mainly introduces the development course and status of WQC in China and other countries or areas and a minimum toxicity data requirement (MTDR; i.e., eight species from three phyla) will be introduced as the principle for data requirement to derive WQC in China, meanwhile a list of ten model species from 4 different phyla will be recommended as domestic test species and the methodology for the deriving aquatic life criteria, sediment criteria, eco criteria and nutrient criteria in China are also detailed describes. In order to demonstrate the methods, several representative chemical pollutants and aquatic environments will be taken as examples in the book. This book will obviously provide important references for WQC related research in China in the future.
