This book provides a review of some detailed §toxicological studies of azadirachtin, a§plant-derived toxin, on the squash bug, an insect of§great horticultural importance. For centuries, Neem§has been used to manage various pests and its potency§is now believed to be largely a result of§azadirachtin and other similar synergistic compounds.§ Various formulations containing azadirachtin were§used on different life stages of the squash bug. §Variables in the study include; feeding, mating§behavior, ovoposition, molting, early-instar§development and mortality in squash bugs. The§compiled studies include both laboratory and field§studies that make a comprehensive overview of some of§the effects of the azadirachtin-containing compounds§on the insect and more generally, on the yield and§biomass of the §host-plants.
