The Theory and Practice of Pastoral Care

We live in a world where there is a definite need for pastoral care and counselling. Many communities experience high levels of crime, violence, prostitution, drug abuse, child neglect and other social evils. A large number of people suffer from psychological disorders. Psychologists and social workers render sterling service in this regard. Unfortunately, many of these problems, disorders and social ills contain a spiritual or religious component and these professionals are not always equipped to deal with this aspect. It is, therefore, necessary to provide a biblical view of all these problem areas of mankind and give guidelines on how to apply the message of the Gospel to people who suffer.
