The Sieve

Momo Serafini was the quintessential 1980s kid. A first-generation Italian-American, born in a city but raised in a small Massachusetts town, his biggest concerns were seeking adventure, avoiding trouble, and navigating life as a child of divorce.

Yet there was another side to Momo's childhood.

In Boston's Roxbury neighborhood stood Columbo's, the Serafini family tavern, where saints and sinners gathered over Nonna Pia's notorious veal cutlet sandwiches. It was a place where everyone seemed to know everyone, family loyalty was unquestioned, and the stories told across the bar were often more revealing than the people telling them intended.

For Momo, these two worlds were simply different parts of the same life.

Until he began asking questions.

As he grows from childhood into adolescence and early adulthood, Momo discovers that the family history he thought he understood is riddled with secrets. Relationships fracture, loyalties shift, and decisions made generations earlier begin shaping his own future.

When a betrayal involving his father, Herc, exposes the family's dangerous connections to Boston's criminal underbelly, Momo finds himself drawn into a world he never intended to enter. His intelligence and entrepreneurial instincts offer him opportunities, but every decision carries consequences, particularly when the people he cares about are involved. What begins as an ordinary coming-of-age story becomes something far more dangerous as Momo discovers that the rules he grew up believing in no longer apply. His curiosity, intelligence, and fierce loyalty become both his greatest strengths and his most dangerous weaknesses.

And as the distance between right and wrong begins to disappear, Momo must decide how much of himself he's willing to sacrifice for the people he refuses to leave behind.
