The Musical Ride is something no other nation has, which makes the Royal Canadian Mounted Police the most unique in the world today. Yet the Mounties who take time off from serving Canadians in all kinds of law enforcement roles to ride a Hanoverian horse are still serving Canada. Yet despite all the pomp and ceremonial power of the Crown in Canada as personified by a Mountie in their Red Serge, Sam Browne Belt, brown leather riding boots, and a Stetson hat, it would be nothing without the horse beneath them.
The RCMP had bred these horses since 1939 as black Hanoverians, a breed created by the ancestors of the current British Royal family, despite descending them from horses first bred in the 18th Century in north-western Germany. They have nonetheless became an iconic Canadian symbol, even appearing on the back of the $50 bill at one point. Seeing the Musical Ride even once in ones lifetime is a uniquely Canadian patriotic experience.
But if anyone has ever wondered what it would be like from a horse's point of view, this book will hopefully tell the story as close as possible. So join Kacey and the rest of his family as the 32 horses jointly preform the Musical Ride from coast to coast to coast. Read about veteran Mounties and new Cadets becoming Constables at Depot, and those riding escort for the team that hauls the Canadian state couch for His Majesty the King, Charles III, to open his Canadian Parliament on Parliament Hill. So, just as seeing the Musical Ride in-person is a family-friendly event, so too is this book and its stories.
