What if Ireland won the Easter Rising, defeated Britain, and became the empire it once fought to escape?

In 1916, the Easter Rising succeeds.

Britain, weakened by war and rebellion, loses Ireland. But Irish revolutionaries do not stop at independence. They support uprisings in Scotland and Wales, intervene in a collapsing England, and by 1922 establish a new political superpower: The Celtic Republic.

From its capital in Limerick, the Republic grows into the dominant force in Europe. Allied with the United States, Africa and Latin America, it becomes wealthy, technologically advanced and internationally admired. England is divided into provinces. Its national institutions disappear. The monarchy is gone. The Union Jack is history.

A century later, the Celtic Republic celebrates one hundred years of freedom.

Then James Connolly speaks from the dead.

During preparations for the centenary, government archivist Maeve Kearney hears a recording that should not exist. Connolly, hero of the victorious revolution, appears to condemn the permanent occupation of England.

His warning is devastating:

"A republic that governs another people without their consent is only an empire with a new flag."

Within hours, the recording is declared a sophisticated fake.

Then Maeve's mentor dies.

Her government security clearance disappears.

Her home is compromised.

And hidden beneath Limerick, she discovers an archive containing a secret powerful enough to destroy the Republic.

England never voted to join.

The founding referendum was falsified.

As Maeve is hunted across a country whose history is being rewritten around her, she is forced into an uneasy alliance with Thomas Vale, an English republican branded a terrorist by the state; Eira Morgan, an engineer who helped build the Republic's vast surveillance system; Captain Calum Reid, a loyal soldier beginning to question the orders he has spent his life obeying; and Amina Okafor, an African diplomat who knows that empires do not always need colonies.

Together, they uncover something even more disturbing than the original lie.

The Republic's surveillance network, known as the Chorus, does not simply identify threats.

It predicts them.

Shapes them.

And perhaps even creates them.

As political violence spreads, old nations awaken and the government prepares emergency powers to preserve the union at any cost, Maeve faces a question far more dangerous than discovering the truth:

What if the people suppressing freedom genuinely believe they are preventing catastrophe?
