Ever wondered why you do what you do?
Sigmund Freud has the answer. Known as the founder of psychoanalysis, this prominent and revolutionary book, "The Ego and the Id" is years of analytical study of the human psyche which goes to the very heart of psychodynamics; the branch of social psychology that deals with the processes and emotions that determine our motivation and psychology.
The theme of this book is simple, Sigmund argues that the human personality springs forth from three structures, the Id, the Ego and the Superego, and, it is the interaction of these structures that shapes your personality and actions and determines how you interact with your environment.
"The Ego and the Id" is one of Sigmund's most renowned works for many reasons. It not only revealed the constant conflict within the human mind, it also set the groundwork for further studies in psychoanalysis.
When you are done reading this book, you'll not only be able to deduce the reasons for your motives and actions, you will do the same for the people around you. It's an answer to all the awkward moments, filled with awkward actions which you couldn't readily explain or comprehend.
