To clear her name, she must read the broken objects left behind: a false pocket, a hurried stitch, a model rib, a repaired counterweight, and labels designed to lie. In a community where almost everyone had a reason to stop the redevelopment, the hardest question is not who wanted the victim gone. It is who understood how to make time itself provide an alibi. A warm, fair-play mystery about useful work, complicated loyalties, and the things a community chooses to keep.
