Stroke Rehabilitation in Low-Resource Settings

This book provides insights into evidence-based stroke rehabilitation within low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Divided into 11 chapters, the book addresses the unique challenges faced in rehabilitating stroke patients with limited resources. From acute phase care to specialized treatments for arm, hand, gait, balance, cognitive, and speech impairments, each chapter offers contextualized approaches. It also discusses practical insights for managing daily activities and addressing complications such as fatigue, depression, and pain. A separate chapter covers cutting-edge technologies for enhancing rehabilitation outcomes. With a focus on discharge planning and real-world rehabilitation models, this book provides essential tools for enabling multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient care and improve long-term recovery in low-resource settings.

The book is relevant for practitioners of stroke rehabilitation, students of physical therapy, public health professionals, health policy advisors and policymakers, and other medical professionals interested in exploring new pathways for stroke rehab in LMICs.
