Street Prophet

From the Delta's dead-end streets to the global stage, one voice dares to finish a sermon power tried to silence.

Street Prophet Carrying Fred Hampton's Unfinished Sermon is a blistering, deeply human, and rigorously argued blueprint for liberation. JM Yellaboy Alexander fuses lived witness with political economy to reveal America's "internal colony" in full: the algorithmic patrols and predictive heat maps that criminalize poverty before it breathes, the carceral marketplace that turns neighbors into inventory, and the platform capitalism that rebrands sharecropping as a side hustle. Born of a Mississippi breaking-bones shattered, future discounted-and forged in brotherhood, recovery, and Rainbow Coalition praxis, Alexander translates pain into method: dual power, revolutionary love, and the Hampton Method of education, breakfast, and defense. The result is part memoir, part movement manual, and wholly unapologetic-naming the fake economy's poisons (the hustle, the hype, the hole) while charting a real economy rooted in mutual aid, co-ops, community land trusts, and transformative justice.

With the cadence of a street sermon and the precision of a seminar, Alexander walks readers from 11th Street's code of survival to the global panopticon of COINTELPRO 2.0, from the school-to-prison pipeline's metal detectors to the gig economy's algorithmic overseers. He reframes whiteness as a ruling-class wage to be refused, honors the lost and the discarded as keepers of prophetic wisdom, and insists that hope is not a feeling but a discipline practiced in gardens, clinics, free schools, and breakfast lines. If you've ever wondered how to turn swagger into solidarity, hurt into hardware, and data into defense-how to live the new world in the shell of the old-this book hands you the map, the method, and the mandate.

Bold, raw, and field-tested, Street Prophet is a call to decolonize the mind, reclaim the body, and build the Rainbow-brick by brick, meal by meal, chapter by chapter-until survival becomes freedom and the sermon finishes itself in the hands of the people.

Readers of Angela Y. Davis, Eddie S. Glaude Jr., and Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor will be galvanized by this book.
