Rogues and Pirates

Everyone trusts the Sorchan. Chendo has spent years trying not to be one.

The token in his pocket means people tell him the truth. It also means they flinch when he takes it out. But when a dying man entrusts Chendo with a name, Chendo is forced to act.

A pirate friend has called in a favor from the Rogues. Someone is raiding ships under Shan's name, killing the crews, feeding the survivors into a scrapyard nobody can locate. Two governments are hunting Shan with a warrant for his capture, dead or alive. His flagship went looking for answers and never came back.

Chendo is returning to a station that no longer feels like home, to ask a clan he abandoned for help he has no right to request.

The trail runs from a corpse in a salvage yard to a stripped breaker yard on a dead world, where racks built for animals were bolted to the floor. Someone used them on people. The missing crews are alive out there, working until they stop being useful. The man who owns them has decided it is time to clean house.

The plan gets worse after that. It requires sending one of his own people into captivity and praying he survives long enough to rescue.

Will Chendo's gamble bring those crews home, or cost him the team that made him something other than an enforcer? Dive into Rogues and Pirates.
