This book challenges policy makers, teachers, school leaders and university faculty leaders to evaluate assessment practices from their unique perspectives and initiate and encourage changes where needed. Excellent assessment in countries around the world will be used to demonstrate best practices and inform decisions. It considers: *the wide variety of reasons why you assess, detailing the various users and uses of results all the way from the classroom to the board room *how you can use classroom assessment, not merely to grade students, but also to promote much higher levels of learning throughout the range of achievement *the imposing and long-standing barriers that have separated testing from teaching and learning, *a roadmap and guidance to a new approach to assessment
