NO FUTURE

Growing up in Northern British Columbia during the 1970s and 1980s, Tyler Barnes spent much of his youth feeling like an outsider looking in.

Part memoir, part social observation, and occasionally accidental comedy, No Future follows a curious, sarcastic, and frequently bewildered teenager through small-town hierarchies, Dungeons & Dragons marathons, punk rock, schoolyard politics, questionable decisions, unforgettable teachers, and the long search for belonging.

From arcade high scores and Columbia House cassettes to poetry, theatre, rebellion, and a runaway trip to Vancouver, these stories capture a generation that grew up before the internet, when identity was assembled from mixtapes, library books, late-night television, and whatever pieces of the world could be found beyond the limits of a small town.

Funny, reflective, and sometimes painfully honest, No Future is not a chronological history. It is a collection of moments, memories, and observations from a life spent questioning authority, challenging expectations, and trying to understand where the misfits fit.

Because memory isn't a record of the past.

It's the stories that remain.
