Forty million dollars in gold, stolen from a Canadian gold mine, now lies at the bottom of Lake Superior on the north shore of Canada. Over 12 years in the making, this novel by Ted McGregor follows the adventures of Jack Rand, a former Navy Seal and now a real estate tycoon, as his yacht and diving skills are enlisted by the owner of the Crystal Palace Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas to recover the gold. Unknown to Rand, the casino owner, who is also a friend, orchestrated the robbery to save his casino from bankruptcy. On his most recent visit to Las Vegas, Rand lost over one million dollars at the Crystal Palace. His friend will forgive the loss if Rand can save the sunken treasure. But nothing is ever easy: others, including a terrorist group, are also seeking the gold and will do anything to get it, including kidnapping Rand's girlfriend. Ted McGregor, of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada, reads a lot of novels by his favorite authors, Ian Fleming, John D. McDonald and Clive Cussler. He is retired from property management and currently owns his own rental property. Like the hero of his book, he enjoys sailing his yacht on Lake Superior and visiting Las Vegas.
