Alex is burdened by a debt that silently consumes him. Suffocated by the threat of foreclosure on his mother's house, he accepts a desperate escape: participating in an "asset restructuring and stress test" organized by an opaque corporation on a secluded estate.
But there's no room for negotiation. Alex and other debtors are encased in claustrophobic fiberglass shells-grotesque suits that resemble insect exoskeletons-and thrown into a labyrinth of padded corridors and mechanical traps. However, the danger lies not only in the hunt or the snipers lurking in the shadows; the true horror is the air thick with a chemical toxin that gradually shuts down the frontal lobe, destroying the participants' judgment, morality, and empathy.
As the atmosphere becomes dense and suffocating, human solidarity completely crumbles. Friends and strangers alike begin to betray each other, use each other as shields, and self-harm with icy indifference. The Mechanics of Contempt is a brutal descent into gritty realism and psychological horror, where survival doesn't lead to salvation, but rather to discovering the cold truth: the system never loses, and the cracks in society always produce new spare parts for the slaughterhouse.
REVIEW
"A masterpiece of modern claustrophobia: visceral, ruthless, and painfully human."
"It leaves you with a knot in your stomach and a feeling of unease so real it's hard to shake off."
