Grandpa's Lab

Grandpa's Lab: James and the Secret of Dead End

One ordinary street. One extraordinary secret. One thirteen-year-old boy who has absolutely no idea what he's getting into.

Welcome to Dead End. It looks like an ordinary street.

It is not an ordinary street.

When thirteen-year-old James moves to Dead End with his mum, he expects a long, grey, deeply uneventful summer. Instead, he discovers a secret underground laboratory, a holographic grandfather, and a family business he never knew existed.

The family business, it turns out, is espionage.

And James is the newest recruit.

Armed with an invisibility suit, spare robotic arms and gadgets he barely understands, James must navigate a street where absolutely nobody is quite what they seem.

• Number 7: A sweet old lady who grows carnivorous plants and once built biological weapons.
• Number 2: A professor constructing something enormous in his basement, without the faintest idea why.
• Two doors down: A family that isn't technically a family, isn't particularly ordinary and isn't entirely human.
• Number 10: A secret rocket the size of a skyscraper, hidden beneath a perfectly innocent garden.
• And then there's the toaster.

Guided by his brilliantly eccentric, holographic grandpa, James must uncover the secrets of Dead End before things get completely out of hand.

Because something dangerous is happening beneath this seemingly ordinary street. And the fate of every living thing on Earth may depend on a thirteen-year-old boy who, just three weeks ago, was more worried about starting a new school than saving the world.

Can James master the gadgets, outwit the villains and survive his neighbours long enough to save the day?

Or will Dead End live up to its name?
