This collection includes nine novellas and short stories, among them A Length of Red Silk and Calling the Mountain. A Length of Red Silk continues the author's signature style. Set in a small mountain village called "Shanshen'ao," the story explores the parallel life experiences and emotional tensions between two generations-Liu Ping'an and Liu Sanpang-across multiple relationships: between individuals, and between people and the world. It uncovers and reveals a certain force of resistance or conflict, and through this conflict, excavates the complexity and richness of human nature.
Calling the Mountain is one of the works that won the Fourth Lu Xun Literary Prize. It recounts the loves and hatreds among several families living deep in the Taihang Mountains.
