fahnenrost ist kein Gedichtband für den schnellen Blick - sondern ein poetisches Gelände voller Brüche, Widerstände und sprachlicher Überraschungen. Arne-Wigand Baganz versammelt darin 125 Texte aus den Jahren 2004 bis 2006, die zwischen Kindheit und Palastabriss, Naturbeobachtung und epochalem Verfall oszillieren. Rostende Spuren ziehen sich durch östliche Landschaften, durch Ideologien und durch die Sprache selbst.

Baganz schreibt gegen das Glatte, gegen das Verständliche um jeden Preis. Seine Lyrik ist rhythmisch, oft ohne Reim, mit Zeilenumbrüchen, die das Lesen verlangsamen und vertiefen. Die Nähe zu Hölderlin ist spürbar, ebenso wie die Skepsis gegenüber Fortschrittsversprechen. Und doch ist fahnenrost kein nihilistisches Werk - sondern ein Ausdruck romantischer Sehnsucht nach Sinn jenseits der Dogmen.

Die Texte wirken expressionistisch, ohne sich darauf festlegen zu lassen. Sie sind wortgewaltig und zugleich von stiller Verinnerlichung durchzogen:

"fahnenrost zerrt einen heraus aus dem Pflichten-, Klingeltonmelodien-, Konsumalltag. [...] Man mag vielleicht nicht alles verstehen, doch wer sich einmal eingelassen hat, wird die Augen und Gedanken erneut darin versenken."
