¿Cómo es hacer justicia en la Argentina? ¿Qué sucede tras las puertas del Palacio de Tribunales? ¿Cómo se resuelven los fallos más delicados? Este libro comenzó con la idea de responder a esas preguntas y acercar el trabajo de la Corte Suprema a los ciudadanos que no son abogados ni conocen el lenguaje del derecho, pero terminó siendo más amplio. En base a casos importantes, se reflexiona sobre la conducción de sociedades diversas y multiculturales, la articulación de los conflictos y los consensos, la protección de la libertad de expresión, de la capacidad de decidir libremente el estilo de vida, el debate sobre la igualdad de subsidios o de oportunidades, la exclusión social, la protección del ambiente y el estado de derecho. Ricardo Lorenzetti, presidente de la Corte Suprema desde 2004, narra en este libro, con un lenguaje amable, alejado de los términos jurídicos, y en primera persona, los pormenores desconocidos de los casos más complejos que la Justicia argentina tuvo que enfrentar en los últimos años y que dieron lugar a una relectura de la Constitución, afrontando los más agudos problemas de nuestra sociedad.
