Scientists predict an eruption and collapse of the Cumbre Vieja volcano. A single tsunami created by such event could threaten the sustainability of the city of Miami, Florida. In the past, U.S. cities such as New Orleans were not adequately prepared for natural disasters. Following Hurricane Katrina, planners were assigned the task of rebuilding a city that by then seemed foreign to them. A potential tsunami lasting a short period of time could be deadlier than the relatively longer-lived Hurricane Katrina.
