Deposit ist ein fotografisches Projekt über das Konservieren von Erbgut und Daten. Auf der ganzen Welt wird gesammelt, archiviert, gelagert, Vorsorge betrieben. Dieser Konservierungseifer hat auch mit Gefühlen wie Unsicherheit und Angst zu tun. Banken für Blut, Sperma und Stammzellen werden angelegt, um vielleicht in der Zukunft Krankheiten zu heilen. Aber nicht nur das genetische, auch das digitale Erbe der Menschheit soll bewahrt werden.§In seinem Projekt stellt der Schweizer Fotograf Yann Mingard den unbedingten Glauben an die Technologie zur Diskussion. Zwischen 2010 und 2013 besuchte er zwölf Orte, an denen das menschliche, pflanzliche, tierische, kulturelle und digitale Erbe gesammelt und gelagert wird. Er fotografiert die Architektur dieser Lagerstätten, die Landschaften, die Menschen, die darin arbeiten und die konservierten Objekte und fängt den paradoxen Charakter dieser Orte ein. Um das Leben zu schützen und zu bewahren wird es in Behältern eingeschlossen und in Bunkern aufbewahrt.
