Cognitive Unease

Why the mind that shaped our world now limits us...

From boardrooms to loungerooms, why do we feel overwhelmed, divided and uncertain despite unprecedented progress and connection?

Ken S. Davidson explores the hidden patterns of cognition and perception shaping how we think, work and connect... and why they are no longer serving us like they used to.

Something isn't quite right, and many of us can feel it, even if we struggle to explain why. We are more connected than ever, yet increasingly divided. We have unprecedented access to information, yet confusion and uncertainty continue to grow. Problems are solved faster than ever, yet a deeper tension remains beneath the surface.

Cognitive Unease explores a compelling possibility: that this unease comes not only from the pressures of modern life, but from the way we make sense of the world itself.

The thinking patterns that helped create today's world are no longer be enough to navigate its growing complexity. Our tendency to see things in opposites, right or wrong, us or them, success or failure, has shaped human progress, but may now also contribute to the division and uncertainty we experience.

This book invites readers to recognise these patterns and consider what lies beyond them. It explores how the way we think shapes our inner lives, relationships, workplaces and emerging technologies.

Take heart - the human mind is not broken; it is evolving.

The first book in this timely and eye-opening series, Cognitive Unease lays the foundation for Integrated Intelligence and Only Human, exploring new possibilities for how we connect, collaborate and understand what it means to be human in a rapidly changing world.
