The purpose of this monograph is to provide students with a window into the world of the chemical engineer. The chemical engineer is familiar with the applications of chemistry in large-scale production processes. One production process that is important in all manufacturing operations is the appropriate mixing of ingredients. Since this process is common to all industrial operations, from the mixing of raw ingredients for plastics and pharmaceuticals to the blending of materials in a mixed product such as a solid fertilizer mix or a blend of grass seed, it is a process requiring the attention of the chemical engineer.
