When Adam and his older brother Brian arrive at Muskegon State Park, Adam already knows exactly what he wants: to win the campground scavenger hunt.
Because fifty dollars can buy a LOT of Instant-Fill water balloons-and at this campground, water balloon wars rule.
But winning won't be easy.
First there's Freckles-a girl who throws water balloons like a baseball pitcher and keeps showing up in the boys' adventures, starting with their fish project just because their mom is an artist.
Then there's Hulk. Why does the big guy keep trying to flag the brothers down? The boys are just searching for ten bizarre scavenger hunt items-including an insect fishing lure when worms are the only bait they've ever used.
As if that's not challenging enough, Mom's toolbox contains exactly one hammer and a handful of mismatched nails, forcing the brothers to build wild projects from abandoned wood and leftover campfire scraps. When the girls' butterfly nets prove too flimsy for frog hunting, the only solution is duct tape, dental floss... and a little creativity.
And just when they think things can't get any crazier, Noah destroys their mini-golf sand maze, three-year-old Mia turns babysitting into survival training, and every day brings another surprise.
But as the scavenger hunt deadline gets closer, Adam discovers there's one challenge that's even harder than winning: Knowing when to tell the truth.
Sometimes the biggest prize isn't fifty dollars after all.
