Calibration Cycle

Six volunteers enter a classified AI/VR experiment on an American military base in Germany. Their first scenario gives them two hours to stop a meteor and no safe way to do it.

Aaron Cole expects advanced immersive technology. He does not expect rain cold enough to numb his hands, soldiers reacting with genuine fear, or a wrist device that assigns authority without explaining the consequences.

As the impact countdown falls, the volunteers are driven towards a sealed launch facility and a choice no civilian should have to make: attempt a high-yield interception with uncertain odds, or evacuate and leave the world to face the strike.

The deeper they move into the crisis, the harder it becomes to believe they are protected by a simulation. Pain persists. Bodies do not disappear. Every instruction reduces human lives to probabilities.

When the scenario finally ends, the survivors return to the waiting room carrying injuries that should not exist. The facility appears unchanged.
