Beyond the Broken Thread presents a faith-filled memoir about Tom and Linda Eckfeld's extraordinary family journey and the ministry God built through their lives. What began as an ordinary marriage and family life changed dramatically when their young daughter Tricia became critically ill and doctors said she would never recover. In that crisis, Tom made a covenant with God: if Tricia lived, they would devote their lives to caring for children with special needs.

Tricia's miraculous healing became the foundation of their calling. From that moment on, the Eckfelds opened their home to medically fragile, disabled, adopted, and foster children, eventually raising three biological children, thirty adopted children, and many others who came through their doors. Here they share stories of heartbreak, humor, healing, loss, and everyday miracles, all woven together by the family's deep trust in God. At the heart of their story is Progeny, the ministry and family training center that grew out of their calling. Through it, the Eckfelds helped medically fragile children remain in family settings instead of institutions and trained parents to care for children with complex medical needs at home.
