Behold Your Mother

Discover the spiritual richness of an ancient Christian voice through prayerful reflections for life today.

In Behold Your Mother, Father Milan Kakone draws on 131 stanzas from Mar Jacob of Serugh's poetic homily on the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God. Presented in English and Arabic, this devotional brings the wisdom of the Syriac Christian tradition into conversation with Scripture and the everyday experience of faith.

Short meditations and searching reflection questions invite readers to contemplate Mary's humility, trust, purity, and willing response to God. Through themes such as the Annunciation, the Incarnation, Mary as the New Eve, and her role in leading believers to Christ, the book encourages a deeper relationship with Jesus and a renewed willingness to share the Good News.

With a foreword by Bishop Francis Kalabat, an introduction to Mar Jacob's life and work, and guidance for prayerful reading, Behold Your Mother offers an accessible companion for personal devotion and reflection within parish and faith-sharing communities.

Read slowly, pause over a passage, and allow the questions to become part of your prayer. These meditations invite readers to receive Christ with Mary's openness-and carry His love into the lives of others.
