Mit dem Buch "Automatisiertes Updatesystem für Produktivdatenbanken", versucht der Autor anhand einer praktischen Umsetzung die Probleme und Lösungen aufzuzeigen, welche bei strukturellen Änderungen von Datenbanken auftreten, die sich bereits im produktiven Einsatz befinden. Im Rahmen eines Kundenauftrags wurde vom Autor eine Software geschrieben und in Bezug auf Umsetzung und Konzeption technisch dokumentiert. Darüber hinaus wird anhand eines anschaulichen Beispiels die Entwicklung einer eigenen META-Sprache in XML zur Lösung des Problems dargestellt.Schrittweise zeigt der Autor mit diesem Werk die Entwicklung der Sprache: Von der Idee, dem ersten Entwurf in "Backus-Naur-Form", über das XML-Schema, bis hin zu einem eigenen Parser. Das Buch beschreibt somit exemplarisch die Erarbeitung der Lösung zu einem interessanten Problem aus dem Alltag der Informatik.
