It was in the eleventh year that the ashen atmosphere first subsided. The sun's rays reached the surface of earth. The particulate from the nuclear holocaust became innocuous. The seas first produced the remnant species. Then, miraculously, the seabirds returned. Some plants re-sprouted. The hardiest of the forests regrew. There were sprouts from coconut trees, pines, and cacti. Rainwaters returned. Grasses crawled across the formerly scorched surfaces.
"Ah, my friend, there is life," an old seaman spoke to the wind.
This, the third novel in the author's Contemplation Trilogy represents the final offering - Aurore. The capstone journey represents the culmination of what mankind would confront in lieu of extinction. Aurore is the next dawn of mother earth. The swaying tides, the pulsing breeze, and the clean radiance of a rising sun give hope. The survivors seek the prospect of sewing back the fabric of humanity. The remnants of what filtered through past The Great Doom has engendered a renewed determination. Life - the aggregate of what humanity survived - can re-commence and coalesce for a common and beneficial future, but only by other circumstances. There are dire obstacles to confront. A new birth of mankind would entail a time of reflection...of past disillusionment, and of a conceptual future espousing optimism and joy. Initially, there is an immediate and elongated discomfort shared by all. Some survivors emerged embracing a new vitality; others withdrew in festering cycles of depression and despair.
