Almost Doesn't Count

I didn't write this book because everything went right.

I wrote it because it didn't.

There was a point in my life where I was close enough to touch what I wanted, and I still walked away without it. Two weeks away. That's all it was. And just like that, everything changed.

For a while, I didn't know what to do with that.

I didn't know how to explain it, and I didn't know how to move past it. All I knew was that I had been close, and close wasn't enough.

That feeling stayed with me.

It followed me through everything. Through going back, through changing paths, through work, through moving, through relationships, through every decision where I had to ask myself if I was actually going to finish what I started.

This book isn't about having everything figured out.

It's about figuring it out while you're still in it.

It's about pressure. The kind that builds up quietly and the kind that hits all at once. It's about learning the difference between being strong and being steady. It's about understanding that starting over doesn't mean you lost, and that taking the long way doesn't mean you're behind.

It's about love, responsibility, and becoming better without pretending the process is easy.

Most of all, it's about refusing to let "almost" be the end of your story.
