A New Invasion of Belgium

"A New Invasion of Belgium" is a compelling historical account documenting the spiritual and humanitarian efforts in Belgium following the devastation of the Great War. Written by Philip E. Howard, the work shifts the focus from military conflict to a different kind of 'invasion'-one of faith, education, and social reconstruction led by Christian missionary movements.

The book details the strategic efforts of organizations seeking to rebuild the moral and spiritual fabric of a nation that had endured years of occupation. Howard explores the implementation of Sunday school programs and evangelical outreach, providing a vivid portrait of the Belgian landscape during the 1920s. By chronicling the interactions between international workers and local communities, the narrative highlights the resilience of the Belgian people and the transformative power of organized religious support during a period of profound recovery.

As a record of post-war history, "A New Invasion of Belgium" offers significant insights into the history of Christian missions and the socio-religious dynamics of early 20th-century Europe. It serves as an important resource for understanding how faith-based initiatives played a role in the broader context of continental reconstruction and the global expansion of Sunday school education.
